Erin McMenamin joined the International Republican Institute (IRI) in early 2020 in the Center for Global Impact and leads the legislative strengthening portfolio which includes the House Democracy Partnership and the Institute for Representative Government. Through her role, Erin organizes opportunities for legislators and legislative staff from around the world to participate in peer-to-peer exchanges to build and deepen relationships, to share advice and technical best practices, and to support development of effective and responsive legislatures.

Prior to joining IRI, Erin served as the Senior Legislative Assistant to Congresswoman Susan W. Brooks (IN-05). Erin’s policy portfolio included foreign affairs, immigration, defense, biodefense, global health, health care, and women’s empowerment. She managed the Congresswoman’s assignments on the Energy and Commerce subcommittee on Health as well as on Oversight and Investigations. Erin also facilitated a series of hearings on sexual harassment and discrimination led by the Congressional Caucus for Women’s Issues during Congresswoman Brooks tenure as co-chair of the caucus. Additionally, she advised the Congresswoman in her role as co-chair of the Congressional Study Group on Germany; which aims to strengthen the transatlantic partnership between the U.S. House of Representatives and the German Bundestag. Erin earned her Masters of Public Affairs (MPA) concentrating in International Development and Policy Analysis as well as a BS in Public Affairs (BSPA) and a BA in Near Eastern Studies from Indiana University Bloomington.
